Chevy Volt

The Chevy Volt started as an automotive industry forerunner and continues to innovate with each model year. The Volt was the very first series plug-in electric hybrid concept car back in 2007. The plug-in hybrid drivetrain can run entirely on electricity for many miles on a full charge before switching to gas—a breakthrough effort in clean energy technology.

The 5-door hatchback has room for 4 passengers, plus cargo, and features a sleek, modern exterior. Since its debut, the Volt has garnered several awards, both in the United States and internationally, from highly respected automotive organizations like Car and Driver, Motor Trend, North American International Auto Show, Kelley Blue Book, and Consumer Reports. Critics have recognized the Volt not only as an outstanding “green” car, but as an exceptional driving experience even when stacked up against traditional drivetrains.

2017 Chevy Volt Performance

The 2017 Chevy Volt can run for 53 miles on a single charge of its 18.4 kWh battery. When equipped with a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas in its 1.5L engine, that number jumps to 420 miles. The Volt finds smart ways to power itself and save fuel by utilizing kinetic brake energy. When the battery is low, you can receive a full charge in 4.5 hours with a home charging station. You can also use a 120-volt portable cord for a full charge in 13 hours.

The technology doesn’t stop with the innovative drivetrain. The Volt also features optional amenities like 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Hands-free talking, texting, music use, maps access, and more are all possible with these smart features. Further, drivers can check out the RemoteLink app system by OnStar to keep tabs on the Volt remotely. Check your battery charge, peak charging hours, and more.

Teen Driver Technology is an optional system that parents will appreciate. The system promotes good driving habits with a variety of built-in protective features. It will mute music when the front passengers don’t have a seatbelt on, let you know when the driver goes over set speeds and audio limits, and alert parents when the safety assistance features go off.
