Chevrolet Announces New Alternative Fuel Options
December 19th, 2016
Chevrolet and GMC announced the exciting addition of new alternative fuel and electric vehicles that will be joining the GM Fleet as 2017 or 2018 models. Among these are a variety of trucks that boast electric or alternative fuel propulsion.
Alternative Fuel Truck Models
Through a partnership with Power Solutions International Inc. (PSI), Chevy and GMC will be introducing heavy-duty trucks among the new GM Fleet vehicles powered by 6.0L V8 engines featuring compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) capability. Chevy will additionally release its new Low Cab Forward commercial trucks in CNG and LPG models.
The first of these truck models will make their appearance during the first quarter of 2017.
The new alternative fuel model announcement comes on the heels of PSI being chosen as GM Fleet’s preferred up-fitter for CNG and LPG pickup trucks. General Motors will provide the 6.0L V8-equipped truck models with hardened valves and valve seats. PSI will equip the trucks with alternative fuel systems and other components, and then ship the completed models to Chevy and GMC dealerships throughout the United States.
Ship-through will be available, enabling customers to place their orders and accept delivery at the same dealership.
Each PSI-modified model will be covered by five-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranties from Chevy or GMC.
The Green Wave
In all, more than 25 trucks, vans, and cars featuring electric or alternative fuel propulsion will be offered through Chevrolet and GMC, including the new 2017 and 2018 models.
This expansion is due to increasing consumer demand as well as commercial investment in CNG refueling infrastructure throughout the country. The Federal Highway Administration recently announced the addition of 55 routes that will be the foundation of a network of alternative fuel corridors across 35 states. The network is almost 85,000 miles long, with more miles coming as new charging and fueling stations are built for electric, propane, CNG, and hydrogen vehicles.

Exciting Chevy Colorado ZR2 to Be Released
December 4th, 2016
When the Chevy Colorado first hit the road, it set a new standard in the midsize truck segment. Now, the new Colorado ZR2 is about to do the same thing in the world of off-road trucks.
Designed to Tackle Off-Road Terrain
The Chevy Colorado ZR2 is to become the performance titan of the Colorado lineup, boasting more off-road technology than any other midsize truck.
The ZR2 truly stands out, flaunting the dexterity and maneuverability of a midsize truck along with a slew of off-road features and the most off-road technologies in its segment.
Onboard the ZR2, drivers will find a wider track than the standard Colorado offers as well as a lifted suspension, functional rockers, and modified front and rear bumpers—all tailored for exceptional off-road performance delivery.
Some class-exclusive features can also be found onboard the ZR2, including an available diesel engine, front and rear electronic locking differentials, and the very first inclusion of Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) damper technology.
The bottom line with the Colorado ZR2 is incredible performance in various settings, whether you’re tackling a technical rock crawling adventure, desert running at high speeds, or just chewing up miles on your daily commute.
Pumping Up the Performance
The most advanced Four-Wheel Drive system in the midsize truck segment can be found onboard the ZR2, featuring class-exclusive electronic-locking differentials for the front and rear as well as nine driving configurations.
Engineers integrated the ZR2’s electronic lockers and enabled them to interact seamlessly with systems like the truck’s stability control, traction control, and hill-descent control.
An “Off-Road Mode” button further combines the truck’s traction control switch, which in turn enables the anti-lock braking system, traction control, and stability control calibrations for different driving conditions. Off-Road Mode additionally changes the throttle progression and adjusts calibrations for quick responsiveness and control.
Sharing its powertrain offerings with the standard 2017 Colorado, the ZR2 is the only “extreme production” off-road pickup providing a choice between gasoline or diesel engines. It also handles up to 5,000 pounds of towing weight or 1,100 pounds of payload weight.

Chevy Silverado 1500 High Desert Package Debuts at SEMA
November 17th, 2016
Chevrolet recently introduced its new Chevy Silverado 1500 High Desert package at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, showcasing the package in a Chevy Silverado 1500 truck model created especially for the show.
The production version of the High Desert package is being offered within the 2017 Silverado 1500 lineup and is available for the Silverado LT, LTZ, and High Country trims.
The special High Desert model created for SEMA displayed production model elements along with some concept accessories and parts, various extra performance components, and accessories that are available through Chevy dealers.
High Desert Style
The production High Desert package available to consumers marks the first time any Chevy Silverado truck has featured the available Magnetic Ride Control suspension. The High Desert package also includes a brand-new water-resistant and lockable cargo system.
Magnetic Ride Control suspension provides greater precision for body motion control, using sensors that monitor the road every millisecond and trigger damping changes within electronically controlled shock absorbers.
The High Desert package’s new cargo system brings a distinctive profile to the Silverado, featuring sail panels that are inspired by the Chevy Avalanche. This versatile, lockable system straddles the truck’s roll-formed, high-strength steel bed and it has two side storage bins. Additionally, you will find a hard three-piece tonneau cover. For cargo you can raise or lower the divider to secure small items or enable full access to the bed floor.
As is the case with each of the 2017 LT, LTZ, and High Country trims, the tailgate is locked with the truck’s key fob, giving owners convenient push-button locking power.
On the LT model, twenty-inch wheels and all-season tires are included within the High Desert package. For the LTZ and High Country models, drivers will find twenty-two-inch wheels and tires meant for all terrains.

Army to Test Hydrogen-Powered, Off-Road Capable Chevy Colorado ZH2
November 2nd, 2016
An exciting new addition is joining the Chevy Colorado family: the Colorado ZH2.
The ZH2 is a demonstration vehicle that combines hydrogen fuel cell technology with off-road capability.
The United States Army will be testing the Colorado ZH2 in 2017 in an effort to gauge the efficacy of using an off-road vehicle that is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell as a transport for Army missions.
The ZH2 was introduced on October 3 at an AUSA (Association of the United States Army) meeting in Washington, D.C., and was also unveiled before the automotive industry on November 1 at the 2016 SEMA show.
Front Styling
General Motor’s pioneering hydrogen fuel cell propulsion technology melds with the foundational pickup architecture of the Chevy Colorado to create the ZH2.
Various components of the Colorado ZH2 are the same as those found onboard the Chevy Colorado production model, such as the doors, cab, and roof.
Up front, the hood of the ZH2 features a power dome to house a fuel cell stack that is mounted transversely. The vehicle’s front fascia is dramatically different from that of the production pickup.
The ZH2’s bold styling is the result of packaging mandates for the fuel cell system as well as the stationary power production and chassis hardware needed for off-road capability.
Rear Design
At the back of the ZH2 is a clamshell cover, which incorporates air intakes that feed honeycombed radiators behind the back doors. By relocating the air intake and placing it near the roofline, the amount of dust and dirt sucked into the radiator during severe conditions was lessened.
Also housed in the clamshell is an Exportable Power Take-off (EPTO) electric power conditioning component system, which is mighty enough to power a small field hospital, a subdivision, or tools at a jobsite for hours.
The ZH2 additionally features a hood, front and rear fenders, and a bed hatch that have been fabricated from Kevlar-reinforced carbon fiber. A custom-made 30-inch LED light bar, 7-inch front headlights, and custom turn signals are also showcased on the Colorado ZH2.

The Duramax Diesel Debuts on the 2017 Chevy Silverado HD
October 22nd, 2016
The Chevy Silverado lineup has a new addition for the 2017 model year. This heavy-duty truck will receive a Duramax Diesel engine to deliver rugged and smooth power. Get to work or enjoy a fun adventure—the choice is yours. See a model at Biggers Chevy.
Engine Performance
The Silverado HD is coming with an incredible 6.6L V8 engine with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque—that’s a 19 percent increase of torque since the previous model. Even though this engine knows how to roar, Chevy managed a 38 percent decrease in sound at idle. That means that you’ll experience surging power inside a completely peaceful cabin.
Biodiesel Efficiency
While Chevy is known for tremendous power, the brand is also working hard to integrate more eco-friendly technology into engine production. The Duramax 6.6L engine is compatible with B20 biodiesel, a more renewable and green fuel. Biodiesel fuel is made primarily on soybean oil, which helps reduce dependency on petroleum while lowering carbon dioxide emissions.
New Vehicle Air Intake System
Chevy has a new vehicle air intake system for the Silverado HD. You can count on the engine to bring in dry and cool air for improved temperature regulation. This is especially helpful for heavy-duty trucks, counteracting the heat during heavy towing and strenuous trailering. The included oil cooler allows for a 50 percent increase in capacity over the last engine.
Chicago Winters Defeated
You can count on the new Duramax engine to warm up without hesitation, even in temperatures as cold as –20 degrees Fahrenheit. This is possible because of glow plugs that are microprocessor-controlled, so there is no need for a block heater. You can expect tough power, even during the most brutal winters. Chicago is notorious for extreme cold, so you can rest assured that your Silverado HD will be at the ready to back you up.

Be Part of a Legend… Chevy Truck Legends
October 14th, 2016
Chevrolet is at it again, with a customer appreciation plan that’s whipped together with a special blend of marketing genius. Chevy’s Truck Legends of Texas program takes the feeling of identifying with an iconic brand and marries it with a place designed especially for diehard truck customers, drivers who live, breathe, and love Chevy trucks.
The First Chevy Truck Legend
The first Official Chevy Truck Legend of Texas is Lonzo Anderson of Arlington, whose 16-year-old Silverado still has its original engine and has racked up over 375,000 miles. This is one diehard, dependable truck. Chevrolet’s Silverado marketing team happened to meet Anderson at the State Fair of Texas and felt inspired by his passion for his Silverado’s durability. The team chose Anderson’s story as the first legend to share.
Back in 2000, Anderson’s car broke down, and he had the tow truck driver take him directly to Vandergriff Chevrolet in Arlington. He bought the Silverado on the spot, and it’s delivered for him every day since, even during an ice storm that left most of his neighborhood stranded. Working, playing, everyday driving – this Silverado’s been up to the task.
The Program
The Chevy Truck Legends customer appreciation program is open to all Texas residents who meet a few requirements – they’ve leased or bought more than one new Chevrolet truck in the course of their life, and they have over 100,000 miles registered on their Chevy truck’s odometer. Once people join the free program, they’ll receive some exclusive swag, like specially branded Truck Legends hats and decals, and even milestone-specific stickers celebrating 100,000 up to 1 million miles driven.
Participating dealers may even offer other discounts and benefits, and Chevrolet plans to highlight certain members and trucks at once-in-a-lifetime experiences at Major League Baseball games, the State Fair of Texas, and Chevrolet corporate events and sneak peeks. Recently, a few Chevy clients had the chance to experience an exclusive preview of the 2017 Silverado HD’s all-new Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel engine at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Become a Truck Legend

Find Out the Latest About Upcoming 2017 Chevy Colorado Updates
September 21st, 2016
Motor Trend’s “Truck of the Year” for 2015 and 2016 is back again and even better than ever. Among Chevy Colorado updates we can expect for the 2017 model year, some performance upgrades are on the menu to even further enhance the performance prowess onboard this popular truck. To be honest, we didn’t think the Colorado could get any better—but it looks like we were wrong!
Performance Enhancements
The 2017 Chevy Colorado will come to the road equipped with an all-new V6 engine and an only-one-in-its class eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Colorado already boasted a class-exclusive diesel engine, and now its new V6/eight-speed automatic combo will deliver a powertrain team-up that is unequaled in the midsize truck segment.
The new engine and transmission have been calibrated to both optimize fuel economy and emphasize performance quality. The Colorado currently reigns as America’s most fuel-efficient truck, boasting EPA-estimated fuel economy of 31 mpg on the highway when powered by the diesel engine.
In crafting the new V6 and eight-speed transmission, Chevy engineers had their sights set on boosting overall driving performance. Some things drivers will quickly take note of in the 2017 Colorado are the new powertrain’s more confident ability to handle heavy trailers, highway speeds, steep terrain, and pulling capability for accelerating from a stopped position.
Advanced engine technologies offered for the 2017 Colorado include enhanced variable valve timing and direct injection, and Active Fuel Management is added for the first time in the Colorado.

The Impressive Colorado
As of August 2016, Chevrolet was in position to surpass the 160,000 sales mark for the Colorado, which has only existed as a nameplate since 2015.
In that short time on the market, the Colorado has achieved a variety of impressive milestones, including claiming a whopping 23 percent of the midsize truck market— making a name for itself as one of the fastest selling vehicles in its segment. It’s gained notoriety as the most awarded midsize pickup truck for the past two years, including being only the second truck in automotive history to be named Motor Trend’s “Truck of the Year” for two years in a row.
The 2017 Colorado is scheduled to be released during the fourth quarter of 2016.

Chevrolet Silverado Shines in J.D. Power’s 2016 Initial Quality Study
July 8th, 2016
Once again, Chevrolet has led the pack in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, with five of the brand’s vehicles ranked at the top of their segments in the 2016 review. The Silverado took every award in the full-size truck category, with the Silverado 1500 receiving the highest marks in the light-duty category and Silverado HD garnering top recognition in the heavy-duty category. For the fourth year in a row, no other automotive brand has more J.D. Power Initial Quality Awards than Chevrolet.
J.D. Power Initial Quality Study
The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study has been examining the frequency of problems that occur in vehicles during the first 90 days for 30 years. Rankings are dictated by the number of problems per 100 vehicles, so the lower the score, the higher the quality rating. The 2016 study surveyed over 80,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2016 model-year vehicles after they’d owned the vehicles for 90 days. The list of 233 questions encompassed a variety of problems and was designed to help manufacturers identify issues and make future improvements.
Silverado Lineup
- Silverado—The 2016 model of the Silverado 1500 shows off a new design and enhanced connectivity, and it’s as dependable and long-lasting as ever. It features the choice of three powerful engines—6.2L V8, 5.3L V8, and 4.3L V8—and can tow up to 12,000 pounds when properly equipped. The Silverado utilizes Active Fuel Management, Direct Injection, and Continuously Variable Valve Timing, which combine to offer the best V8 fuel economy available in a pickup—23 mpg in models with the 5.3L engine.
- Silverado HD—The 2016 Silverado HD is available in two models, the Silverado 2500HD and Silverado 3500HD. These trucks are exceptionally powerful, with a maximum conventional trailering rating of 20,000 pounds and a newly available max fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailering rating of 23,200 pounds. An innovative Digital Steering Assist feature, newly available on some of this year’s models, adds greater responsiveness and precision road holding for increased control.

#SilveradoStrong: The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Outshines the 2016 Ford F-150 in a Series of Tests
June 21st, 2016
Put head to head in a number of demonstrations designed to figure out which vehicle offers drivers the most versatile ride, the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado beat the 2016 Ford F-150 hands down in a variety of head-to-head tests. These tests measured the durability and strength of the trucks’ bodies and the strength of the trucks’ beds. The F-150 was beaten every time, and the 2016 Silverado proved itself as the most exceptional truck on the road.
Strong Body
In scientific testing, a 17-pound striker was used to try and puncture the beds of both trucks. The Silverado withstood strikes of up to 90 joules with relatively little damage. The aluminum of the F-150, however, began to crack to 30 joules. At 40 joules, the F-150 was actually punctured.
Sturdy Bed
In another test, this one an extreme example, 55 blocks—weighing about 825 pounds total—were dropped into the beds of both trucks from a height of about five feet. In every test, the Silverado sustained only minor damage, but nothing worse than a few dents and scratches. The utility of the Silverado’s bed remained entirely intact, and the trucks could have easily be used to handle any kind of job. The F-150 on the other hand sustained full punctures in every single test, and it actually averaged 4.3 punctures per job.
What Makes the Silverado so Strong?
The Ford F-150 is constructed of an aluminum alloy, but we can clearly see the problems with that material. The Silverado instead uses high-strength steel. In fact, the steel is so strong that traditional means of manufacturing aren’t enough to form the bed of the truck, and a roll-forming process has to be employed. But this process actually enhances the strength of the steel, which is why it can stand up to any job you may require it to.

Biggers Chevy Celebrates Military Awareness Month
May 16th, 2016
May is Military Appreciation Month, and Chevrolet is showing their gratitude for those who protect this country every day. Chevy will honor the United States military by donating a portion of sales from the Special Operations 2016 Silverado to the Navy SEAL Museum and its supportive foundation. Find out more about the Special Operations 2016 Silverado and Chevrolet’s commitment to the cause with the latest information from Biggers Chevy.
Special Operations 2016 Silverado
The Special Operations 2016 Silverado is a special edition model that is inspired by the twentieth century warships and more specifically, the “Razzle Dazzle” paint job. The paint was meant to camouflage the ships travelling from opponents with different shades of blue. This model also has features like reinforced lower and under body, LED lights for off-roading, 20-inch wheels, and broadened wheel arches. Though this edition is an all-new limited model on sale this spring, the body is based on the classic Silverado 1500 Z71.
Chevy Supports the Military
Sales from the Special Operations 2016 Silverado are not Chevy’s first efforts to support the troops. For over 100 years, General Motors has helped those in the U.S. military.
It began with President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “Arsenal of Democracy.” GM transformed its facilities to produce U.S. military vehicles—and they made more vehicles than any other automotive manufacturer at the time. William Knudsen, an early president of Chevrolet and GM, followed through with President Roosevelt’s request to ramp up production during World War II. Knudsen even sacrificed his salary, living on one dollar per year instead of his luxurious $300,000 annual income.
For the present day, Special Operations 2016 Silverado sales will benefit the Navy SEAL Museum and foundation. Plus, right now, the Military Discount Program is now open to all military veterans—no matter how long it’s been since they have served.
See us at Biggers Chevy
Help us support the brave men and women serving our country. Proceeds from the Special Operations 2016 Silverado are just one of the many ways that we support those in the military during Military Awareness Month. The 2016 Chevy Silverado With eAssist
March 19th, 2016
Power and hauling are typically top priorities for pick-up trucks. Chevrolet’s recent announcement for the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado revealed that some models will come with eAssist technology. This is a hybrid system that maximizes fuel efficiency while still delivering the peak power and hauling that makes the Chevy pickup so popular.
eAssist Features
The eAssist system delivers up to 13 percent improved fuel economy when driving in the city when compared to models without the system. The mechanics of the eAssist are lightweight, cutting the Silverado’s curb weight around 100 pounds. While the system is lighter and more economical, it also adds more power for drivers to use with an increase of 13 hp and 44 lb-ft of torque via an electric motor. To test driver response with eAssist, the system will only come with select models at California Chevy dealerships. Based on owner feedback, the system will open up to other states.
Adapted Chevy Technology
The Silverado is already known for its fuel economy, but Chevrolet always strives to bring out the best in every vehicle. The eAssist system stems from the Malibu Hybrid and the Volt, but Chevy felt that this innovative engineering could benefit other models as well. The Silverado gains a similar power inverter module as the Chevy Volt and a compact induction motor, which helps increase horsepower and torque. Under the front bench seat is a 24-cell 0.45 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, just like in the Malibu.
This technology was also a natural companion for pre-existing efficiency systems already in place. eAssist works alongside regenerative braking, like in the Volt and Malibu. Stop and Start technology helps the engine save fuel by temporarily halting the engine when your foot hits the brake.
Try a Silverado Today
We have to wait to see how the 2016 Chevy Silverado eAssist system works for drivers in California. We predict Chevy may have a new success on its hands, as many drivers need fuel efficient vehicles for happier wallets and a healthier environment. In the meantime, check out our website for more information about the Silverado at Biggers Chevy today. We’d be happy to share all the details about this incredible lineup.

A new advertisement for the Chevy Silverado is touting Chevrolet’s industry leadership in the realm of Internet connectivity.
Chevrolet has sold an impressive 1.4 million vehicles equipped with 4G LTE as of the end of 2015, which is more units sold than the rest of the automotive industry combined.
The new “Mobile Office” television commercial showcases the assets of the OnStar 4G LTE connectivity that is now featured in the powerhouse, popular Silverado, continuing Chevy’s “Real People, Not Actors” campaign by offering actual customers the option of a mobile office in the Silverado with OnStar 4G LTE or a mobile office in a competing vehicle that does not feature 4G LTE Internet connectivity.
A Well-Connected Crew
Chevrolet is currently the only automaker in the industry that offers 4G LTE connectivity across its full family of retail cars, trucks, and crossovers.
In addition to 4G LTE technology, Chevy additionally offers a broad array of other connectivity offerings, such as OnStar and RemoteLink, to keep drivers well-connected wherever they travel.
With millions of connected Chevy vehicles in operation, the company has attained important insight into consumer’s wants and how they use these tech features. For instance, Chevy owners have utilized over 1.4 million GB of in-vehicle data since June 2014. Chevrolet drivers also had, on average, over 5 million OnStar RemoteLink app interactions per month during 2015.
Chevrolet owners additionally utilize OnStar about 2 million times each month to obtain driving directions, and they’re using OnStar an average of 3,000 times each month to make Good Samaritan calls.
Chevy’s Leading Legacy
Chevrolet boasts a rich history of bringing pioneering technologies to the market and to its customers.
For almost 20 years, the company has offered vehicle connection through OnStar, and Chevrolet was also the first brand to offer Siri Eyes Free compatibility in its vehicles.
For the 2016 model year, Chevy will provide both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across the largest number of vehicle models in the industry.
Chevy’s pioneering legacy includes being the first automaker to feature technologies like Teen Driver, which is an onboard system that encourages safe driving habits for teens and keeps parents informed about their teens’ driving performance. Other industry-exclusive technologies, like Valet Mode and Performance Data Recorder, enable Corvette drivers to unlock interior storage, disable their vehicle’s infotainment system, and capture video and vehicle data when the system is in use.

Chevy’s Silverado 3500HD gets a rock makeover for the release of the newest Kid Rock edition. American songwriter and musician, Kid Rock, shows his patriotism through his spirited songs. After teaming up with Chevrolet, Kid Rock has created a special Silverado 3500HD that is inspired by the hit single “Born Free” to honor American workers and freedom.
Recent Debut
Chevrolet introduced the Silverado 3500HD at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, but this special edition has deep roots in Michigan. Kid Rock designed the new truck with the help of UAW Local 598, based out of Flint. As a Michigan native himself, Kid Rock was proud to work with union workers to make his vision of the Silverado 3500HD come true.
Patriotic Design
Kid Rock stated that he wanted the Silverado 3500HD to appeal to hard working American workers. The interior was inspired by acid-washed jeans with Sky Cool Gray leather seats and a dash of metallic-toned seat inserts. The instrument panel is blacked-out and is trimmed with silver accents. The glovebox proudly states that it was “Made in Detroit” to reflect the hard work of American workers. Finally, the Kicker audio system provides a crisp soundtrack during any road trip.
The outside of the model is eye-catching with patriotic graphics on the doors, a powerful body shape, an enlarged and bold Chevy emblem, and chrome exhausts. This truck evokes the feeling of an industrial town, like Detroit, through artistic chrome accents.
Heavy Duty Performance
The Silverado 3500HD trailers up to a whopping 20,000 pounds when equipped with a 4WD powertrain. With the fifth wheel or the gooseneck-style hitch, you can boost the trailering to 22,600 pounds. The Silverado 3500HD makes trailering more maneuverable with cruise control, an exhaust braking system, and a powertrain grade braking system.
The truck is outfitted with a 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel engine for a hearty feel and rugged performance. Plus, the 1000 Allison six speed automatic transmission creates a smoother ride in your Silverado.
The Silverado 3500HD Can Be Yours
The Silverado 3500HD Kid Rock Edition is a patriotic salute to the American spirit. Reignite your love of the road in the special, one-of-a-kind, Detroit-made Silverado 3500HD. You can send Biggers Chevy a message online to find out more information about this standout truck.

The 2016 Chevy Silverado has been Unveiled
October 27th, 2015
At the recent Texas State Fair, guests were introduced to the new 2016 Silverado. While some model details were teased in July and many speculations surrounded the truck, we now know the official details for the mighty pickup.
New Appearance
The 2016 Silverado will feature a redesigned front end for a more muscular design. The hood is also sculpted to stand out from the previous model. Signature LED lighting has been added as well to deliver a touch of luxury to the Silverado.
Performance
The 2016 Silverado has three engine choices drivers can select from: a 4.3L V6 with 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque, a 5.3L V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, and a mighty 6.2L V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission will also now be offered on the 2016 Silverado with the 5.3L V8 engine.
To improve the Silverado’s powertrain, the Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed is approximately the same size and weight as the smaller Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic. You can engage a lower rear axle ratio, allowing for a lower RPM on the highway with the 8L90 eight-speed transmission.

The 2015 Colorado vs. The 2015 Toyota Tacoma
August 28th, 2015
When you’re looking for an affordable truck with plenty of power, you may have come across the 2015 Colorado or the 2015 Toyota Tacoma. We compared the two pickup trucks to see which one provides more value when it comes to safety, warranty, performance, towing, and cargo. One truck emerged as the clear victor in these categories.
Safety and Warranty
You can expect both the Colorado and the Tacoma to have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, child safety locks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control and electronic stability systems.
The Colorado LT/ZL1 has an optional collision warning system, which warns the driver to brake or maneuver immediately to avoid a collision if it senses one. The Tacoma doesn’t offer a collision warning system. Also available on the Colorado is a lane departure warning system that alerts the driver when the truck is drifting into another lane. The Tacoma doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.
When it comes to warranties, Chevrolet’s warranty is one of the best around. Chevy has a powertrain warranty that last 40,000 miles longer than Toyota’s. Any extreme repair needed on any vital part of the Colorado is fully covered for 5 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage for the Tacoma comes to a sharp stop after 5 years or 60,000 miles. The Colorado’s corrosion warranty is also a year longer than the Tacoma’s.
Payload and Towing
Payload and towing specs are important when considering a powerful truck. The standard Colorado model has an incredible towing capacity that is much higher than the Tacoma’s. The Colorado can tow 3,500 pounds compared to the Tacoma’s 3,400 pound capacity. The Toyota Tacoma Access Cab has a maximum towing rate of 6,500 pounds, while the Colorado Extended Cab offers up to a 7,000 pound towing capacity.
The Colorado’s standard payload capacity is higher than what the Tacoma can offer. The Colorado’s payload is 1,410 pounds, while the Tacoma has a payload of 1,285 pounds (for extended cab models).
Passenger and Cargo Room
The Colorado offers excellent passenger and cargo space. The Colorado Extended Cab has 1.4 inches more front headroom, 3.7 inches more front legroom, 1.4 inches more front hip room, 1.5 inches more rear headroom, and .4 inches more rear legroom than the Tacoma Access Cab.
The Colorado Crew Cab has 1.2 inches more front headroom, 3.3 inches more front legroom, 1.4 inches more front hip room and 3.2 inches more rear legroom than the Tacoma Double Cab.
If you are in need of more cargo space, the Colorado Extended Cab has a 49.9 cubic feet cargo box, while the Tacoma Access Cab shortbed only offers 42.6 cubic feet.

Which Has the Upper Hand? The 2015 Silverado vs. 2015 Ford F-150
August 27th, 2015
The 2015 Chevy Silverado and the 2015 Ford F-150 are comparable pickup trucks with rugged capabilities. At Biggers Chevy, we compared both vehicles to see which one will bring you more power and features for your dollar. After a careful assessment of each pickup, we found the truck that gives you more edge for your warranty, engine, towing, and performance.
Warranty
GM has one of the most comprehensive warranties on the market. With the Silverado, you can have peace of mind with a powertrain warranty that lasts 40,000 miles longer than Ford’s warranty. In the event your Silverado needs a repair on the engine, transmission, axles, joints, or driveshafts, your truck is fully covered for 5 years or 100,000 miles. The Ford F?150, on the other hand, has a powertrain warranty that immediately halts after 5 years or 60,000 miles.
Furthermore, GM has a one-of-a-kind 2-year or 24,000-mile scheduled maintenance warranty. During that time frame, oil changes, lubrication, rotations, and much more are covered. Ford does not pay for any scheduled maintenance on the 2015 F-150.
Payload and Towing
When comparing payload and towing, the Silverado’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the F?150’s with 5600 pounds compared to the F-150’s 5,100 pound capability.
The Silverado also has a payload capacity higher than the F?150’s standard 1,680 pounds for its extended cab model. The Silverado’s payload is 1,870 pounds for the extended cab 1500. If you need a truck with as much strength as possible, the Silverado is a wiser choice.
Performance and Handling
In terms of performance, we looked at the Silverado’s and the F-150’s horsepower and torque levels:
The Silverado’s 6.2L V8 engine is mighty with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Compare those specs to the F-150’s 5.0L V8 with 385 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque. If you want power and speed, then the Silverado offers you the most performance capability.

Silverado 1500 Custom Sport: Stellar Reviews for This High-Performance Truck
June 10th, 2015
The reviews are in and the Silverado 1500 Custom Sport is one of the most impressive pickups on the market. Mark McNabb from TopSpeed reports, “That touch of elegance is what some folks really go for – helping them make their truck a more one-of-a-kind creation.” From its spirited EcoTec3 V6 and V8 options to its gorgeous chrome-accented exterior, this Silverado is a sight to behold. Its quiet cabin and abundant technology provide the perfect road experience. Biggers Chevy encourages you to see what the reviews are all about.
Design
The Silverado 1500 Custom Sport package is available on LT and LTZ trim levels and can even be added with the Z71 Off-Road package. The Chevy Custom Sport Trucks that first made their debut in the late 1960s inspired this model. According to TopSpeed, “The special edition package is more of a classy, down-toned option that help separate Custom Sport trucks from other Silverados, giving owners a more unique ownership experience.” Expect a body-colored front grille, and chrome trim pieces on the wheels, side moldings, door handles, and mirror caps.
Performance
Chevy provides two different engine options for this powerhouse truck. Stick with the standard 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine with 285 hp for a well-balanced ride. If you need maximum power, then upgrade to the optional 5.3L EcoTec3 V8. This boosts your output to 355 hp. Standard Custom Sports will include two-wheel drive with six-speed automatic transmission, but 4WD is an option as well.
Features
Jonathon Ramsey raved about the clever features of the Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Sport in his reviews for Autoblog. He reported, “The Silverado has some of the best feature implementations we’ve encountered in any vehicle.” In particular, he praised the lane departure warning and park assist systems and their innovative vibratory alerts. Other features include the high-tech 4G LTE Wi-Fi and the MyLink infotainment system.
Test Drive the Silverado Today
If the reviews don’t convince you that this pickup is the real deal, then a test drive in the Silverado 1500 will. Visit Biggers Chevy to experience all the magic of this model in person. The Chevy Silverado 3500HD Rethinks Efficiency Entirely
May 23rd, 2015
The Silverado 3500HD has always been a serious workhorse with plenty of utility, but now Chevy has announced that it will be more efficient than ever with the addition of a compressed natural gas (CNG) bi-fuel system. Now that the Chevy Silverado has joined the CNG lineup, drivers can be eco-friendly without sacrificing power.
CNG: Better, Cleaner, and More Powerful
Work trucks often have a poor reputation for being gas-guzzling enemies of the environment. With CNG, truck users get all the power they need, plus the benefit of paying less for fuel—a great option for those who put significant mileage on one or more of their trucks. Most importantly, CNG is a considerably cleaner-burning fuel when compared to traditional gasoline. You can feel good about using CNG because it reduces a vehicle’s carbon footprint significantly. Chevy’s roll-out of several CNG, eco-friendly models is true to their commitment to providing their customers with plenty of efficient, earth-friendly fuel options.
Huge Tank For Fewer Fill-Ups
The bi-fuel system ensures that you’ll spend less time at the pump and more time getting things done. The Silverado 3500HD features two tanks, one that holds 24.5 gallons of CNG and one that holds 23.5 gallons of gasoline. Not only will your trip range improve significantly, you’ll also have valuable fueling flexibility. Since the Silverado will run on either fuel type, you can rest assured that you won’t find yourself stranded on an empty tank.
Solid Warranty You Can Depend On
As with any automotive investment, a robust warranty is an important factor in the purchase process. Chevy offers a rock-solid warranty on all of their CNG fuel systems. All government and qualified commercial buyers get a 5-year/100,000-mile warranty, while regular customers get a Chevrolet Complete Care 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. In addition to the warranty, all customers receive an outstanding coverage of a 2-year/24,000-mile scheduled maintenance warranty.

Chevy Plans Impressive Updates for the Silverado
April 15, 2015
Chevy is planning to refresh the popular Silverado with exciting updates later in the year, and truck enthusiasts couldn’t be more thrilled. Auto insiders are already speculating about Chevy’s refreshed pickup, which is expected to be a 2016.5 model. While nothing has been officially confirmed, sneak peeks indicate improved stylistic changes and additional powertrain options will be available. Chevy’s Silverado has always been a best-seller and with the new upgrades, the upcoming model is expected to be better than ever before.
Lighter Weight
Chevy has worked hard to bring the Silverado’s weight down for greater efficiency and handling. How did they accomplish this? Insiders report that the body components have been revamped with lightweight aluminum and an alloy hood, which could potentially drop hundreds of pounds from the truck’s total weight. Other GM pickups are also jumping on the aluminum-intensive truck design trend, so expect many slimmed-down models in the future. Additionally, the front fenders may change to allow for greater aerodynamics and lighter weight.
Powertrain
The popular Chevy Silverado is well known for its powerful and smooth driving experience, so rumors are already flying about the 2016.5 model. The 5.3L V8 version is expected to receive an upgrade in transmission from a six-speed automatic to an eight-speed. Currently, the eight-speed transmission is only offered with the much larger 6.2L V8. Around 2017, insiders speculate that the eight-speed will make way for an impressive ten-speed automatic transmission.
Refreshed Style
The Silverado’s stylish good looks have always been a customer favorite. Chevy will likely maintain the integrity of the current model while enhancing its beauty with subtle refinements. Insiders predict a fresher front fascia with LED accent lighting. This will create a sleeker, high-tech look for the Silverado. Rumors of a new cargo system are also swirling, though we’ll have to wait and see what surfaces.
Test Drive the Silverado Today
While we wait for the updates to the Chevy Silverado, we encourage you to see what the current Silverado line has to offer at Biggers Chevy. We are located at 1385 E. Chicago Street in Elgin, so drop by and we’ll be happy to help you. You can view our current inventory of Chevy Silverados online.
The 2015 Chevy Colorado Offers Maximum Customization with New “Box Delete” Option
March 25, 2015
Chevrolet has always kept the needs of small business owners and fleet managers in mind when designing their trucks. That fact is perhaps most evident in the introduction of the 2015 Colorado’s “box delete” configuration, marking it as the only mid-size truck to present drivers with this option. The Colorado already offers segment-leading efficiency as well as a compact, convenient frame. Combined with the new box delete option, the Colorado is the ideal truck for everyday drivers and small business owners alike.
Models Featuring Box Delete
Box delete will be available on the Colorado Work Truck 2WD extended cab models alongside a 305-hp 3.6L V-6 engine plus six-speed automatic transmission. And regardless of whether or not box delete is selected, drivers will now also have the option of removing the back seat of the Work Truck extended cab for added versatility.
Highlights
For drivers seeking the utility of a flatbed or other custom body upfits, box delete provides remarkable versatility. Here are just a few of its capabilities:
- Impressive 2,200-pound payload rating
- 6,001-pound gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR)
- Eight body mount provisions (four for each frame rail)
- Standard fuel filler position
Plus, Colorado trucks with box delete will feature a deleted rear bumper with temporary tail lamps installed on the rear of the frame.
Starting in mid-April, drivers will be able to configure the 2015 Chevy Colorado Work Truck 2WD extended cab with box delete. It’s important to note that selecting this feature will apply a $300 credit to the suggested retail price of the truck.

The 2015 Silverado Custom Sport Package Is a Modern Classic
February 11, 2015
The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado is getting a bit of a remix. For the first time, drivers will have the option to add on a sport package to their Silverado. Dubbed the Silverado Custom Sport special edition, the truck’s design calls back to the iconic Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s.
By incorporating a touch of elegance through sleek style upgrades, the 2015 Silverado Custom Sport will be a nod to the era when trucks transitioned off of rugged utility lots and into the driveways of America’s families. The 1967 Custom Sport Truck, in particular, featured luxurious touches like plush carpet, bright trim, and bucket seats. Such amenities were previously unseen on trucks made during that time, and the 2015 Silverado Custom Sport package aims to revive some of that revolutionary excitement.
What Comes in the Custom Sport Package?
The package, which will cost between $1,950 and $2,950, will feature body-colored front and rear bumpers and grille surround, a black grille, and chrome door handles, mirror caps, side moldings, and 20-inch wheels. It will also include versatile features like:
- Projector beam headlamps
- Tow hooks
- Heated power-adjusted mirrors
Both LT and LTZ models are eligible to be appointed with the Custom Sport package. LT models will be available in black or white, and LTZ (including the Z71) models will come in black or White Diamond Tricoat.

Country Stars Choose Chevy Trucks
January 5, 2015
Few attributes of Americana are more definitive than Country music and rugged pickup trucks. At Biggers Chevy, were proud that Country stars choose Chevy trucks to help move them and their families. Known for their impressive capabilities and stylish designs, Chevy trucks have always delivered a high-quality ride that drivers enjoy, including America’s favorite Country recording artists. Let’s take a closer look at what Chevy trucks Country stars are cruising around in.
Country Stars and Their Chevy Trucks
The Chevy Silverado is quite the popular vehicle, and Country stars that choose Chevy trucks are well aware of how excellent this vehicle really is. Here’s a short list of which Chevy trucks your favorite Country artists drive.
- Luke Bryan: Off-road travel and heavy hauling are what Like Bryan enjoys thanks to his all-black 2011 Chevy Silverado 4×4. It was a surprise gift to the singer of “Crash My Party,” and a stark contrast to the truck he drove in that song’s music video. Unfortunately, it would seem that Bryan didn’t set his parking brake during a family outing and accidentally rolled his Silverado into a pond. That just means he has all the more reason to pick up the all-new 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500!
- Lee Brice: The singer of “I Drive Your Truck” certainly knows a thing or two about quality pickups, because he drives a Crew Cab 2012 Chevy Silverado with custom chrome wheels and running boards. Ideal for transporting passengers, Brice’s Silverado features a roomy cabin to comfortably seat up to five occupants at a time.
- Dierks Bentley: As a testament to the quality and reliability that Chevy trucks consistently deliver, the “I Hold On” singer, Dierks Bentley, has been driving the same Chevrolet for the past twenty years. Known affectionately as “Big White,” Bentley considers his truck to be a close, dear friend. He also dedicated an entire webisode of his mini-series to Big White by meticulously discussing its ins and outs.

Research Focus Group Concludes That You Want a Chevy Truck
December 29, 2014
In our last post, we let you know that scientists at Chevrolet have discovered something we’ve known for a long time at Biggers Chevy: girls dig trucks. But the truth goes way deeper than that. It turns out that drivers of all genders and ages prefer pickup trucks. Chevrolet polled focus groups of kids, older men and women, housewives, men with beards, and more, and they all showed a preference for pickup trucks—particularly the all-new 2015 Chevy Colorado.
While the focus groups initially responded to whether they thought a pickup made a man more handsome and rugged, it quickly turned toward why all people prefer pickup trucks.
And that’s when they stumbled upon an essential truth about not just what our Chevy trucks are, but about who we are as a people… as a nation… and who we want to be. We are all innately drawn to trucks because deep down there is a yearning — subconscious for some, perhaps — whispering to us in ballads of revving engines and beating hearts that we want to be like our trucks. We want to be capable. We want to be tough. We want to be powerful. We want to be trusted to get the job done day in and day out for the people who count on us. We want to look awesome while we do it. We want to have 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection. We want to be Chevy trucks.
If you think we get a little carried away about Chevy trucks, just check out the 2015 Colorado’s specs.
2015 Chevy Colorado Specs
We don’t have all day to breakdown every feature of the 2015 Colorado, because we’re busy doing cool truck stuff, but here are the major highlights to start:
- Power: The 305 hp of the Colorado’s 3.6L V6 engine is the best power rating in its class, letting the truck offer a best-in-class towing of up to 7,000 pounds. You can thank the 269 lb-ft of torque for that towing capability.
- Fuel Efficiency: The 2015 Colorado can earn as much as 26 highway mpg from its 3.6L V6 engine, giving it a best-in-class fuel economy to go with that best-in-class power and towing. It’s almost as if the Colorado is the best pickup truck in its class…
- High-Tech Features: Chevy continues to push the envelope on technology, and the available 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity from OnStar gives you the most powerful mobile hotspot we’ve ever seen. Available Chevy MyLink infotainment and safety amenities like a rear vision camera, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning launch the Colorado into the next generation of pickups.

Official Chevy Research: Girls Dig Trucks
December 12, 2014
Over the past year, Chevy has been breaking down just what makes vehicles like the 2015 Colorado so popular among men. Their findings indicate, beyond any reasonable doubt, that men buy the Colorado and the Silverado because girls dig trucks and the guys who drive them. Don’t believe us? Well, you don’t have to take it from us — check out Chevy’s video-documented research below.
Can a Truck Make You More Dateable?
These days, lots of folks are turning to online dating, and that profile picture can make or break your successes. Chevrolet worked with Kyle, a young man who had little success with online dating until he trucked up his profile. Before, no girls were talking to him. After Chevy hooked Kyle up with a new Colorado and sent him on an adventure with some friends, everything changed.
A single week after Chevy trucked up Kyle’s profile, it went from 3 visitors to 97. That’s an increase of over 3,000%. Can we say for certain that it was his newfound love for pickup trucks? Yes. Yes we can.
Packaging the Truck Guy Scent
The “truck guy” has a certain mystique to him, and while the only way to get that genuine truck guy scent is to drive home a new Colorado or Silverado from Biggers Chevrolet, Chevy has been working on an alternative. They recently condensed that new truck smell into Truck Guy deodorant to find out if people would buy the next best thing. With hidden cameras placed, they saw real men and women stop by and smell the new scent before tossing a stick into their cart.
The allure of a truck guy is so powerful that 42% of shoppers felt the need to take home Truck Guy deodorant. Until Chevy officially hits the market with this scent, though, you’ll need one of our pickups to get the job done.
Truck Up Your Life
According to a recent study of 1,000 women, 32% stated that the most attractive vehicle a man can drive is a pickup truck. 52% of those women preferred black trucks. We have black trucks at Biggers Chevy.
Chevy Trucks Out-Muscle the Competition
November 7, 2014
Recently, Chevy hired AMCI Testing, a third party research firm, to test the durability of both Chevy and Ford trucks to find out which brand’s trucks were toughest. AMCI subjected the Chevy Silverado 2500HD and the Ford F-250 Super Duty to a rigorous frame twisting challenge, and the results came as no surprise to fans of the Heavy Duty Silverado.
The test took both trucks and placed them onto two uneven ramps, where the wheels on one side were raised much higher than that of the other side’s, applying substantial torque to the frame. Measurements were then taken to determine the amount of twist to which the frame was subjected.
After the test, AMCI concluded that the frame of the Chevy Silverado 2500HD allowed only .26 inches of movement (twist), while the Ford F-250 Super Duty allowed for a decidedly more significant .94 inches of movement, 262% more play than the Chevy Silverado. In fact, the twisting of the Ford F-250 Super Duty was so significant that the tailgate could not be lowered—not true of the Chevy Silverado 2500HD, whose tailgate functioned smoothly throughout the test.
The strength of the Chevy Silverado’s frame can be attributed to its high-strength, roll-formed steel. Paired with the boxed frame, the use of high-strength steel makes the Chevy Silverado 2500HD one of the toughest, longest lasting trucks on the road.
The body of the Chevy Silverado 2500HD is constructed of similar high-grade steel, as opposed to the stamped steel used in competitor’s vehicles. The use of high-grade, and ultra-high-grade steel in the “A” and “B” pillars, cab, rockers, roof rails, and strategic areas of the interior, give the Chevy Silverado a stronger, more substantial foundation upon which to build these solid, American workhorses.
Ultra-high-strength steel is used in areas of the rocker panels and undercarriage to improve stability and strengthen the vehicle in the event of a collision. According to Ducker Worldwide, an independent market research firm, the Chevy Silverado uses more high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel than any other full-sized pickup on the market today.

Chevy Silverado Toughnology Concept Truck
November 6, 2014
In production since 1917, each generation of Chevy trucks has been a benchmark in the industry. As you’ve probably come to expect, Chevy is pushing the truck market’s envelope again with their Chevy Silverado Toughnology concept, a concept truck that implements new forms of lighter, tougher steel to achieve a safer, more fuel efficient frame.
Strong, Light Steel for a Tough, Efficient Truck
The Toughnology concept truck is designed with high- and ultra-high-strength steel. This lighter, stronger material will improve not only the safety and durability of Chevy’s truck line, but fuel efficiency as well.
The high-strength steel used in the concept is pressed while in molten form, rather than being produced using conventional means. This means that the metal can be as much as 30% lighter—a significant difference when considering the size of a full-sized work truck. Because the high-strength material is less expensive to produce than aluminum, the overall cost of the vehicle is kept in check – even as quality improves.
The concept wears the bulk of its strength where it matters most. Approximately 67% of the cab is constructed of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel, including the “A” pillars, the “B” pillars, rockers, roof rails, and certain sections of the interior structure. Ultra-high-strength steel is used in the rocker panels and underbody to enhance durability in the event of a collision.
These improvements are already in place in the 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, which earned a 5-Star Government crash test rating—the highest possible.
Technology for the Open Road
The Toughnology concept isn’t just about strength, however—it’s also about versatility and tech. The concept showcases all of the best that Chevrolet has to offer consumers in the form of connectivity technology, such as OnStar 4G LTE, a built-in WiFi system that allows you to connect up to 7 devices—including laptops and tablets—to a stronger connection than what you’d get off your smartphone. The concept also features accessories and a variety of performance parts readily available through Chevrolet Dealers nationwide.

New Small-Block Engines
The small-block engine has been a staple under the hood of every Chevy truck for the past six decades, and the 2015 Chevy Silverado continues this tradition. Thanks to a trio of next-gen small-block engines, the new Chevy Silverado manages to produce incredible power without having to sacrifice fuel efficiency. The specifications for each are as follows:
- 4.3L V6: This engine puts out 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque, which is the highest torque production of any standard V6 powertrain.
- 5.3L V8: Capable of 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, this engine also gets an estimated 23 mpg on the highway, which is the best of any V8 engine in a truck.
- 6.2L V8: Only the new Chevy Silverado can come equipped with the most powerful V8 engine in its class, which happens to produce 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Fully Boxed Frame
Composed of three separate sections, the 2015 Chevy Silverado uses a fully boxed frame for truly impressive hauling capability, longevity, and crash safety protection. Hydroformed side rails provide optimal strength throughout the Chevy Silverado frame while lowering weight to improve fuel economy and offer nimble handling at all times.
Reinforced Body Structure
To compliment the frame, the body structure of the 2015 Chevy Silverado uses high-strength steels to enhance strength. The cab of the Chevy Silverado alone is composed of 67% high- and ultra-high strength steels to ensure a safe, confident ride for your crew and/or your family. The new Silverado is the only full-size pickup truck to earn a 5-star safety rating overall in government crash tests.
Durable Cargo Box and Tailgate
The 2015 Chevy Silverado has the industry’s most innovative and organized cargo box available. It features two-tier loading and integrated tie-downs as standard amenities. For added peace-of-mind, the cargo box floor is made up of durable roll-formed steel, which makes for a heavy-duty cargo-loading surface. The tailgate itself has been subjected to extreme conditions to ensure its strength, so you can confidently load up and transport cargo with ease!

Chevy Trucks Make Appearances in Country Music Videos
October 1, 2014
Boys like their toys – the bigger and shinier, the better. So it really comes as no surprise when we see music videos peppered with some of the biggest, toughest trucks on the planet. Like the American original they are, Chevy trucks are making appearances in some of today’s biggest country music videos.
Chevy – An American Favorite
Chevy trucks have been some of the best-selling pickups in America for quite a while now, making them a hit with workers, outdoor enthusiasts, and even celebrities. Here are a few of our favorite Chevy models to make cameos in country music videos.
- Luke Bryan: “Crash My Party” – Luke’s vintage Silverado looks like it was made to run through the mud. Though he chose to use it to plan a romantic date, it still looked strong, even parked. The red Z71 that made an appearance as well isn’t bad either!
- Jason Aldean: “Take a Little Ride” – A veritable ode to the Chevy truck, Jason’s video captures country driving at its best with a string of full-sized beauties that made us want to run in the mud ourselves.
- Florida Georgia Line: “Cruise” – These guys showed us the best of both worlds with a stunning Silverado for the band and a variety of vintage trucks popping up throughout the rest of the shot. The video made running in the mud seem like the most natural place for a Chevy truck to be.
- Kip Moore: “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” – Bad grammar aside, this guy clearly knows a thing or two about choosing a nice ride. His Z71 looked just like it belonged parked out in that field while Kip sang of its girl-getting powers and allure.
- Cole Swindell: “Chillin It” – This slightly surreal story of a driver imagining the girl of his dreams being magically transported into his vintage Chevy Blazer was fun to watch and made us yearn for a long country road.
Chevy Trucks are an American Staple
Whether you’re a fan of the genre or not, it’s clear that trucks look good in their natural environment – the great outdoors. And, if you happen to have a few friends and an afternoon to kill, they’re just a lot of fun, too. Why not explore the magic of Chevy trucks at Biggers Chevy today – it’s time for you to see what you’ve been missing. Contact us today for more information.
Top Five Chevy Pickups
September 22nd, 2014
The 1971 Chevrolet C/10 Cheyenne Pickup
America has never had enough of Chevrolet pickup trucks and for good reason. Ever since the first Chevy pickup was built in 1918, customers have trusted the Chevy brand to provide a powerful, spacious ride able to conquer the toughest jobs without fail. Here at Biggers Chevy, we thought we’d pay tribute to that legacy with a retrospective list of the top 5 Chevy trucks of all time — landmarks in the evolution of the truck itself, for which all modern-day pickups owe just about everything.
- The 1948 Chevy Pickup: Manufactured using Chevrolet’s all-new Advance Design, the 1948 Chevy pickup truck was the first redesigned vehicle produced by GM after World War II. The roomy cabs comfortably sat three occupants across, and the production model drivetrain required very little adjusting, as this truck had clearly proven itself during the war.
- The 1949 Chevy Canopy Express: Unlike the open bed of the 1948 Chevy pickup, the Canopy Express models provided extra versatility for delivery drivers and vendors alike. The open side panel of this truck allowed “hucksters” to sell goods from the back of their truck without ever having to exit.
- The 1967 Chevy Pickup: The look of the 1967 Chevy pickups is much leaner than previous generations. It sat lower, giving it a car-like appearance, while still projecting an image of pure, rugged capability. Most of the features offered with this truck were designed to appeal to customers who desired added comfort with their performance.
- The 1971 Chevy C/10 Cheyenne: Thanks to this truck, Chevrolet set a sales record during 1971’s calendar year. The 1971 Chevy C/10 Cheyenne saw over 250,000 units produced, which clearly demonstrated America’s love for the half-ton truck segment and for trucks as capable as they were luxurious.
- The 1976 Chevy C/10 Stepside: For a unique appearance that also provided added convenience, customers couldn’t go wrong with the 1976 Chevy C/10 Stepside truck. This classic design featured a small step just below the rear fender, which allowed drivers to easily reach cargo located at the front of the bed.

Chevy Trucks on the Silver Screen
September 6th, 2014
For many years, Chevrolet trucks have been featured quite prominently in films. Whether they’re projecting an image of raw, rugged power or helping their movie-star drivers avoid danger by taking damage without ever suffering performance issues, Chevy trucks in movies have always elicited a strong, visceral reaction in audiences. As the premier truck manufacturer, it’s no wonder why Chevrolet trucks are so popular here at Biggers Chevy! Let’s take a closer look at iconic Chevy trucks that famously lit up the silver screen.
The 1973 Chevy C10 in “The Terminator”: Outfitted with various lighting rigs and oversize wheels, Sarah Connor’s vehicle of choice certainly portrayed an intimidating image. Rightfully so, considering the fact that she was being hunted by the Terminator himself! The 1973 Chevy C10 was the perfect fit for this movie and it performed its duty well.
The 1987 Chevy Suburban in “Dante’s Peak”: While more of a sport utility vehicle than a full-fledged truck, the main character of “Dante’s Peak”, Harry Dalton, pushed his 1987 Chevy Suburban to the limit. His Suburban was equipped with a snorkel package that allowed it to effectively ford a flooded roadway, but unfortunately it was no match for the lava flow when the volcano eventually erupted.
The 1978 Chevy K10 Cheyenne in “Red Dawn”: With the Soviets invading rural Colorado, what better truck to have on-hand than a 1978 Chevy K10 Cheyenne? It was the perfect vehicle to carry Patrick Swayze and all of his friends around so that they could all take back their town effectively. Plus, very few trucks scream “America” quite like a large, capable Chevy K10 Cheyenne.
The 1989 Chevy S-10 in “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls”: As over-the-top as the movie itself, the Chevy S-10 monster truck that Jim Carrey drives in “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls” provided some poignant comic relief as well as a memorable chase scene between Carrey and the main villain.

Fun Chevy Truck Facts
August 29th, 2014
Since their introduction in 1918, Chevy trucks have been much beloved by American auto buyers. From the original 1918 Chevrolet 490 Light Delivery, to the modern 2015 Silverado, Chevy trucks engender love and loyalty from their owners – and looking at the iconic line up through the years it’s easy to see why. Chevy has built a reputation for producing some of the best vehicles on the road, and in celebration of that achievement, we wanted to share a few fun Chevy truck facts you might not know:
- Since 1918, Chevrolet has produced 69,000,000 trucks. That’s an average of 718,000 trucks every year since the first ones rolled off the line.
- The first Chevrolet trucks were only outfitted with sheet metal in the front. Truck buyers added the rest to suit their needs.
- The first Chevy trucks to offer hydraulic brakes were released in 1936.
- To increase publicity for its truck line, Chevrolet loaded a new 1937 ½ ton truck with 1,060 lbs. of cargo and sent it out across America – for a distance of 10, 245 miles. It averaged more than 20 mpg on that trip!
- Chevy introduced “glamour pickups”, or personalized trucks to transform the vehicle from a utilitarian workhorse to a more mainstream family vehicle beginning in 1967.
- The C/K designations used until 1999 denoted whether the truck was 2WD (“C”) or 4WD (“K”), with the HD standing for “Heavy Duty” on the beefier models.
- Chevy introduced a hybrid Silverado in 2005 that has sold more than 100,000 units to date.
- According to a 2012 survey by AutoGuide.com, the Chevy Silverado was the most popular truck in America for that year.
- The 2014 Chevy Silverado offers 285 hp at 5300 RPM, nearly 8 times what those first models were capable of.
