Chevy Colorado Towing Capacity

The 2020 Chevy Colorado is a midsize truck with an adventurous side. In fact, the Colorado can tow up to 7,700 pounds when properly equipped. Plus, you can take your pick of two exceptional powertrains.

The 2020 Colorado has three engine options available:

  • The standard Colorado features a 2.5L four-cylinder engine with 200 hp and 191 lb-ft of torque. This efficient engine is capable of up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity – outperforming most 4-cylinder engines on the market.
  • The available 3.6L V6 boosts power and capability in a big way. This Colorado delivers up to 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque, while offering the capability to tow up to 7,000 pounds.
  • The available 2.8L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine provides up to 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, while increasing towing capacity to up to 7,700 pounds.

The available eight-speed automatic transmission also has an optional Tow/Haul mode that will minimize upshifting and downshifting for a smoother driving experience. And if you want to load up the bed, the Colorado can take a payload of up to 1,578 pounds.

2020 Silverado 1500 Towing Specs

The 2020 Silverado 1500 is perhaps one of the most well-known pickups on the market, and for good reason. You can tow up to 13,400 pounds on your Silverado 1500 when equipped with the Max Trailering Package.

Given its immense popularity, it’s no surprise that Chevy offers even more powertrain options for the Silverado 1500 lineup. Which engine is right for you?

  • The standard 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine offers the most torque of any vehicle in its class with 305 lb-ft and 285 hp. Even the basic Silverado 1500 can tow up to 5,600 pounds.
  • Upgrading to the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 brings the power up to 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, along with a best-in-class V8 fuel economy of 24 highway mpg.
  • The high-end 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine raises the output to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
  • An available 3.0L turbodiesel engine makes up to 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque and considerably increases fuel economy to an EPA-estimated 23 mpg city/33 mpg highway.

It’s not just the engine that contributes to the tough personality of this pickup. The Silverado is built with a high-strength steel frame with standard tie-downs, along with options like EX Lift & Lower tailgate and CornerStep rear bumper for ease of loading.

  • The standard 6.0L Vortec V8 can handle a trailer weight of up to 14,500 pounds and is capable of 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque.
  • Stepping up to the 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel brings towing capacity to 17,850 pounds when properly equipped and offers up 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque.

The Silverado 2500HD also includes options like factory-installed Fifth-Wheel/Gooseneck Prep Package, Spray-On Bedliner, and more. This popular pickup truck was built to handle the heaviest cargo without breaking a sweat.
