The team at Biggers Chevy wishes you a very happy Halloween, and in doing so, we encourage you to stay safe as you and your crew of ghouls and goblins celebrate the spookiest of holidays!

There’s a lot going on in the Elgin community this Halloween season, including the following spine-tingling and horror-ific happenings. Enjoy!

Day of the Dead

On Sunday, October 30, Elgin’s elite—both living and nonliving—will head out to the Elgin Public Museum to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos.

This free event celebrates Day of the Dead, also known as Dia De Los Muertos, which is a holiday observed across Latin America as people remember their departed loved ones and saints. Join the museum in exploring the origins and traditions of this time-honored holiday! The fun starts at noon.

The Elgin Public Museum is located at 225 Grand Boulevard.

Halloween Happening

On Saturday, October 15, join the crew at Eastside Recreation Center for a spooky afternoon filled with games, pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating, goody bags, and more.

Admission to Halloween Happening is free, and costumes are welcomed, though it is requested that only child-appropriate costumes be worn.

Bring your little goblins down for some good, clean Halloween fun! This event takes place from noon to 2 p.m., and children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Eastside Recreation Center is located at 1080 East Chicago Street.

Nightmare on Chicago Street

Is it Chicago Street—or is it Freddy Krueger’s Elm Street? Perhaps it is the land of the Walking Dead? You be the judge at this exciting Elgin extravaganza!

On Saturday, October 22, from 6-11 p.m., Chicago Street in downtown Elgin will transform into a horror lovers delight, complete with a battle against a horrifying zombie horde, four entertainment stages, a costume contest, Svengoolie, merchants, vendors, and more.

Join your fellow citizens in conquering the impending zombie apocalypse once and for all!

As you take your little monsters out and about to show off their costumes and collect candy this October 31, make sure you know the designated trick-or-treat hours in your neighborhood. For instance, the set trick-or-treating hours for the Village of South Elgin are from 4-8 p.m. on Halloween night.

Check with officials in your area to find out when trick-or-treating is permitted in your slice of the city, and stay safe!
