Parks in Elgin
With so many wonderful parks in Elgin, you have plenty of options for exploring, and Elgin Sports Complex and Lords Park are two favorite spots. These parks offer everything from sports and nature trails, to an historic museum and zoo, and both are easily accessible from St. Charles and Schaumburg. Welcome to Elgin!
Elgin Sports Complex
This Elgin Park is a sports fan’s dream, with ten soccer fields and ten softball/baseball fields with lights, and even sand volleyball courts. This huge 191-acre complex hosts recreational leagues and tournaments, and it also has one of the only two BMX racing tracks in northern Illinois, The Hill. The Elgin Sports Complex is located at 709 Sports Way, Elgin, IL.

This historic regional park consists of 108 acres that was originally farmland, donated in 1893 by the Lord family of Elgin. Its beautiful wooded areas are home to sports fields and picnic spots, and you can even rent shelters that seat up to 70 people. Families also love the historic and educational activities that are part of Lords Park:
- Elgin Public Museum – Elgin Public Museum features natural history and anthropology collections within the majestic Neo-Classical building that still features original woodwork and plaster wall ornamentation.
- Lords Park Zoo – Lords Park Zoo offers fun, educational experiences along with the excitement of seeing American bison, elk, white-tailed deer, and assorted farm animals.
- Pavilion – Built in 1898, the Pavilion is a spectacular historical landmark, available for weddings and special events.
- Lords Park Aquatic Center – There’s nothing but fun at this recreational pool that’s over 14,000 square feet in size. It also contains a double flume water slide, water play features, a bath house, concessions, and a competition-sized lap pool.
