2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

The Stingray. What can we say beyond that? It’s one of the best-known names in the history of the Corvette, making a splash in the second and third generations, and it’s back for the seventh generation. We love the 2015 Corvette Stingray here at Biggers Chevrolet, and if you’ve ever driven one, you can probably imagine why. If you haven’t had the pleasure of driving a Stingray, though, we’ll do our best to put into words just what makes this vehicle so impressive—from its power to its style to its price—but the reality is that you’ll get the best picture of this Corvette, of any Corvette, by getting some quality time behind the wheel.

Starting at $54,000

Trim Levels and Pricing

No matter which trim of the Stingray you’re interested in, you’ve made a brilliant choice for your next vehicle, and even the entry-level Coupe 1LT is one of the most impressive cars available for the price, outclassing vehicles two or three times as expensive while still maintaining that luxurious, high-power aesthetic that makes a Corvette… well, a Corvette.

  • Coupe 1LT: $54,995
  • Coupe 2LT: $59,155
  • Coupe 3LT: $64,445
  • Convertible 1LT: $59,995
  • Convertible 2LT: $64,155
  • Convertible 3LT: $69,445

Additionally, each trim level can be had with the Z51 performance package featuring brake cooling, powertrain cooling, a fast-acting suspension, and more features that help bring the vehicle up to track-level performance.

The Corvette has always been about style, but it has always had a high-performance engine under the hood to back it up. The 2015 Stingray is no different. The 6.2L LT1 V8 engine is rated at 460 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque, making it capable of a 0-60 mph time of just 3.8 seconds. While the Stingray only has one engine available, drivers can opt for the Z51 performance package to bring everything up to track-level performance. Optimal weight balance is achieved through a rear transaxle layout, while the new compact engine design helps to lower the Stingray’s center of gravity and get it the most out of every drop of gasoline. Whether you choose the available 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, or the standard 7-speed manual, you’ll also be driving one of the most fuel efficient sports cars on the planet. The Stingray is rated at an astonishing 29 mpg highway fuel economy, regardless of the transmission.

Exterior Design

Both the Stingray Coupe and Convertible have an exterior design that is built to turn heads, just as a Corvette should. One of the best parts about a vehicle that embraces a race-proven design is that its low, lean, aerodynamic frame is more than just practical; it’s truly stunning. There’s nothing on the road that looks quite like a Corvette, from the tip of its aggressive new front grille to the tail end’s iconic taillights and spoiler.

And if you opt for the convertible, you can drop the top and let everyone know just who it is behind the wheel of such an amazing automobile. The fully electronically retractable convertible top can be lowered at speeds of up to 30 mph, hiding beneath the body-colored tonneau cover seamlessly and letting you feel the wind as you put the pedal to the floor and get every ounce of power the Stingray is capable of offering.

2015 Corvette Stingray Exterior

If you thought that the Stingray looked great from the outside, wait until you sit in the driver’s seat. With seven different combinations of interior leather upholstery available with sueded microfiber inserts, the comfort of the Corvette driver is clearly a top concern, and real aluminum with available carbon fiber accents give it a flare that is sorely lacking in most new vehicles. A sweeping free-form design runs the length of the instrument panel and carries over into the console and door trim to give the Stingray one of the most impressive interior designs we’ve ever seen, leaving the traditional utilitarian sports car designs of the past where they belong: in the past.

When you’re driving one of the fastest vehicles on the road, safety is a prime concern. Four-wheel anti-lock brakes and GM’s Active Handling system help to prevent accidents before they occur, seat-mounted head and body airbags help protect you during a collision, and your OnStar telematics system can report accidents automatically, ensuring that help arrives promptly after a collision.

  • Rigid Aluminum Frame: One of the best ways to keep a driver safe behind the wheel is to ensure that the Stingray absorbs as much of the damage as possible, as much as it pains us to think of such a scenario. The new aluminum frame is actually 57% stiffer than the steel frames of previous generations, helping to deliver crash energies away from occupants.
  • Run-Flat Tires: If you ever lose tire pressure for any reason—maybe you pick up a screw or a nail—run-flat tires ensure that you can safely get to a service center to get everything fixed up without worrying about a blowout.
  • HID Headlamps: One of the most important ways to prevent an accident is to be able to see a potential risk before it happens. Not only do the HID xenon headlamps help light the way for you, they also make you easily visible to other drivers.

Tech Features

It used to be that all drivers wanted out of their Corvette was a classy exterior and a high-power engine, but now there’s a third element in the world of automotive excellence: technology. The Corvette has been at the forefront of auto tech for years, embracing some of the first digital and heads-up displays, and the Stingray is no different.

  • Stay Connected with 4G LTE: Have one of the best looking mobile hotspots around and stay connected with a stronger signal than your smartphone can provide thanks to the available OnStar 4G LTE connection.
  • Performance Data Recorder: Have you ever wondered just how it is you pulled off an impressive turn or what range of output your engine went through as you put the pedal to the floor to pass someone on the highway? Not only can you record your performance data to analyze your driving techniques, you can also log video alongside it with the available performance data recorder. Share it with your friends or upload it on YouTube. Or just watch a recap on the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
  • Chevy MyLink: All of your technology is collected in one convenient place using the Chevy MyLink interface. You can control your Stingray experience and make handsfree phone calls, stream Pandora internet radio, and even receive turn-by-turn navigation all through the Chevy MyLink system. One special touch that we love about the Stingray’s touchscreen: it drops down to reveal a storage area with USB input to keep your iPod or smartphone safe and secure.
  • RemoteLink Key Fob: Download the OnStar RemoteLink app and you can lock, unlock, and start your Stingray with just the push of a button on your compatible smartphone.
