Join Us at Our Biggers Chevy Blood Drive and Roll Up Your Sleeve to Help Others!
For the team at Biggers Chevy, giving back to the community is an important part of what we do. On July 30 from 11AM-3PM, we’re teaming up with Heartland Blood Centers to help community members give the gift of life to someone else.
On that day, residents of Elgin and the surrounding cities will have the opportunity to make a lifesaving blood donation at our Biggers Chevy dealership, located at 1385 E. Chicago St. in Elgin. We encourage local residents to come out and support this most important effort and give of themselves in a very real way to help others.
Did You Know?
Donating blood not only fills a vital need, but it’s good for your health, too.
Regular blood donation stimulates the production of new blood cells in the body and reduces the body’s iron levels. This, in turn, has been linked to reducing the donor’s risk of getting cancer as well as heart and liver ailments associated with high iron content in the body, such as hemochromatosis, heart abnormalities, cirrhosis, and liver failure.
Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood. Will you step up to help?
How to Donate
If you’re 17 years or older, you are eligible to give blood.
Please bring a photo I.D. with you when you come to donate.
Before you give blood, you will need to complete a confidential screening, in which you’ll be asked about your medical history in order for Heartland Blood Centers staff to determine your eligibility. They will then complete a mini-physical, checking your pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and iron level. Once you’ve successfully completed the screening, you’ll be all ready to donate!
Giving blood is completely safe, and every donation is taken with a new, sterile kit.
Once the donation process is completed, you can rest and enjoy juice and cookies in our refreshment area.
The entire donation process, including the pre-screening, takes about an hour.
Thank you so much for being part of our Biggers Chevy blood drive. Together, we can save lives!
