The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe vs. the 2015 Nissan Armada
The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe remains one of America’s most beloved SUVs. Though it has competition, the Tahoe offers numerous standard amenities and versatile functionality that help it outshine its peers. Let’s see how it stacks up against the 2015 Nissan Armada!
When it comes to performance, there’s no contest between the 2015 Chevy Tahoe and the 2015 Nissan Armada. The base level Tahoe LS is equipped with a 5.3 liter V8 engine backed by 355 horsepower, whereas the base Armada SV has a 5.6 liter V8 with only 317 horsepower. That difference helps the Tahoe reach maximum speeds of 90.6 mph in a quarter mile while the Armada can only reach 88.6 mph.
For superior acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway, the standard six-speed automatic transmission on the Tahoe gets the job done. The Armada is only available with a five-speed automatic.
As always, Chevrolet designed the 2015 Chevy Tahoe with safety in mind. Automatic child locks come standard and can be easily operated from the driver’s seat. While the 2015 Nissan Armada comes equipped with child safety locks, they’re manual and must be individually engaged from each door.
The Tahoe further focuses on safety with features that are simply not offered on the Armada, such as:
- Standard seat center air bags
- Optional Hill Descent Control
- Daytime running lights
Both the Tahoe LT and LTZ models also offer Blind Spot Warning, while none of the Armada trims give drivers a comparable feature. Finally, the Tahoe LTZ has cutting edge optional Crash Imminent Braking that engages the vehicle’s brakes in the event that the driver does not respond to an oncoming collision. The 2015 Armada does not offer this feature.
The 2015 Chevy Tahoe offers a competitive warranty, with vehicle protection extending to 5 years/100,000 miles. All repairs on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts are fully covered for that period. Additionally, Chevrolet pays for all scheduled maintenance for 2 years/24,000 miles.
The 2015 Nissan Armada only offers warranty coverage for 5 years/60,000 miles and does not pay for any scheduled maintenance.
Cargo and Passenger Space
Nine passengers can ride comfortably in the 2015 Chevy Tahoe, enjoying 2.2 inches more third-row headroom and 3.5 inches more front legroom than the maximum eight passengers of the 2015 Nissan Armada.
The Tahoe LT and LTZ both offer automatic lower second and third row seats, whereas the Armada seats only lower manually. An automatic foot-kick activated automatic liftgate is also available on the Tahoe to make loading groceries or other cumbersome items easier. The Armada does not offer any hands-free access to the liftgate.
