2014 Chevy Volt vs. 2014 Nissan Leaf

The 2014 Chevy Volt vs. The 2014 Nissan Leaf

2014_chevrolet_voltEcologically conscious drivers in the Schaumburg area trying to find a vehicle that will save them money at the pump and help the environment will probably consider the 2014 Chevy Volt and the 2014 Nissan Leaf. Here at Biggers Chevy in Elgin, we compared these two models to see which one would be the better purchase, and while they both deliver impressive fuel efficiency numbers, the new Chevy Volt has a lot more to offer than Nissan’s hybrid. Just take a look!

  • Performance: Just because the 2014 Chevy Volt is a hybrid doesn’t mean that it drives like one. Equipped with a standard 1.4L 4-cylinder DOHC engine and electric motor, the new Volt rivals even non-hybrid sedans with an output of 149 hp and 273 lb-ft of max torque. The 2014 Nissan Leaf’s only source of propulsion is an electric motor, which puts out a much weaker 107 hp and 187 lb-ft of torque.
  • Safety Features: The 2014 Chevy Volt comes with the OnStar telematics system as a standard amenity. If the airbags deploy in the new Volt, OnStar uses the vehicle’s GPS receiver to send emergency personnel to the accident site right away. Also, an optional lane departure warning system helps keep Volt drivers from drifting lanes with a series of alerts. Not taking the extra steps to help prevent accidents and call for help if they do occur, the 2014 Nissan Leaf does not offer a telematics system or lane departure warning system.
  • Standard Conveniences: On a cold winter morning, you can take advantage of the 2014 Chevy Volt’s standard remote vehicle starting system that can comfortably warm up the interior and the engine before you even enter the car. A telescoping steering wheel also helps Volt drivers find a more comfortable seating position. A remote vehicle starting system and telescoping steering wheel are not available for the Nissan Leaf.
