What Are You Looking For?
The 2017 Chevy Sonic offers zippy fun with its standard 1.8L engine four-cylinder engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine cranks out 138 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque. It has an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with a manual transmission or 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway an automatic transmission. The optional 1.4L turbo engine with a 6-speed manual transmission shows an EPA-estimated 29 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.
The Sonic is fun to drive, but it is also designed to be safe. The vehicle has a total of ten airbags that deploy in stages based on crash severity, and the system even has protection around front passenger knees. A complimentary trial for OnStar gives you three free months of navigation with turn-by-turn direction, roadside assistance, emergency crash response, and much more. The rear-view camera gives you a clear view when reversing and parking. Optional Forward Collision Alert is a safety amenity we recommend for its stellar braking capabilities in a wide variety of conditions. A Lane Departure Warning system is also optional, and it lets you know when the car accidentally crosses over lane markers.
Technology in the Sonic includes optional OnStar’s 4G LTE Wi-Fi that pairs up to seven devices to the Chevy MyLink system with access to your apps up front. Pair your devices to the system to enjoy access to phone calls, music streaming, internet radio, and much more. On the LS trim, you will find a 4-speaker audio system, but the setup upgrades to 6-speakers on the LT trim and higher.
