Price of Optional Navigation System in Chevrolet Cruze Cut in Half

If you've had a navigation system once, you likely can't imagine living without it. If you've never had a navigation system, perhaps you'd like one. It certainly beats the heck out of juggling an Atlas (remember those?) and a mug of coffee, trying to find your destination. You might even want one so much, that you demand your next car have one, so long as it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

Well, you're in luck, Chevrolet has announced that for the 2012 model year, the navigation system available on their increasingly popular Cruze model will cost buyers 50 percent less than it did on the outgoing 2011 model. Specifically, it will cost just $995. Not only that, but it will now feature a safer, more convenient touch screen interface, and improved resolution. And don't worry, if you've grown to love the knobs on the previous model, they're still there.

While the new navigation system costs half as much as the outgoing system available in the 2011 Chevy Cruz, it doesn't lose any of its integrity. The only functionality that drivers will no longer have available to them via the new system, now  equipped with SD memory rather than a 10-gig hard-drive, is recording and/or pausing live radio. Obviously you might have a different opinion, but we personally think this is well worth what is close to a grand in savings.

The new 2012 Cruz will be available starting later this month. The new navigation system will be available with the 2 LT, LTX, and Eco models.
