Chevrolet Cruze Diesel to Hit U.S. in 2013!

Finally, the general perception of diesels is changing in the U.S. Biggers Chevrolet, serving the greater Elgin area sees this as a very good thing. For, there are many benefits that come with diesel-powered cars, especially as the margin between the price of diesel and gasoline continues to shrink. Perhaps the most critical, though, is the fact that diesel vehicles offer 40-60 percent better fuel economy compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars. This alone helps counterbalance the slightly more expensive cost of the engine itself.

With the foresight to see exactly where consumer preference will lay in coming years, Chevrolet has decided that it will bring a Cruze Diesel to the U.S. in 2013. Drivers have been anticipating such a decision, since the beginning of the year. But, now it's official.

In a recent interview with USA TodayDan Akerson, CEO, GM shared that in two years Chevrolet will, in fact, introduce a  diesel-powered Cruze to the U.S. market. While the U.S.-bound Cruze has a ways to go before it's complete, Akerson has already had the pleasure of driving in interim model. And, he says, "It was great."1

Akerson also indicates that when equipped with an automatic transmission, the forthcoming Chevrolet Cruze Diesel should deliver fuel economy in the low-to-mid forties. That equates to five to nine more mpg compared to the gasoline-powered Chevy Cruze LS, LT and LTZ currently available, and may even supersede that of the new, 42-mpg highway Chevy Cruze Eco.
